During June, Sarah had the opportunity to visit a number of primary school settings across Dorset to deliver our Primary Vaping resources directly to pupils. These workshops provide students with a foundation of knowledge while also introducing teachers to our suite of educational resources. Staff are then able to build on this learning within their own classrooms through PSHE lessons, tutor time activities, and wider wellbeing discussions.
These school visits have also provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships with educational settings across the county. Many of the schools visited are part of larger academy trusts, creating valuable opportunities for our resources to be shared and adopted more widely through professional recommendations and collaboration. We are working closely with Dorset Police Safer Schools Officers and the schools they have identified as needing targeted support.
At King's Park Academy in Boscombe, Sarah delivered three separate workshops to each of the Year 6 classes. The engagement from both pupils and staff was extremely positive, and we have developed a strong working relationship with the school.
Sarah also visited Manorside Academy, where the Year 6 students demonstrated excellent engagement throughout the session and contributed a range of thoughtful and insightful questions during the plenary discussion. At Oakdale Junior School, Sarah had the privilege of delivering a vaping awareness presentation to the Year 6 cohort. The students responded enthusiastically and participated actively throughout the session.
In addition, Sarah visited Emmanuel Middle School, where she delivered a staff training followed by student presentations. These included a vaping and THC awareness session for Year 8 students and a vaping awareness session for Year 6 pupils.
Overall, the month has been highly productive, enabling us to expand awareness of our vaping education programme, strengthen partnerships with schools, and secure valuable pilot settings for the next phase of our Primary Drug Education resource development.
