The TALK ABOUT Trust (formerly the Alcohol Education Trust) is a charity which depends on grants and donations in order to keep its highly evaluated and evidenced health education programmes on alcohol, vaping, cannabis, spiking, county lines and other substances free for the children in schools, pupils referral units and special schools, youth clubs, colleges and universities across the UK that we support each year. We also visit children in schools and youth settings and students at Universities hosting workshops, assemblies and awareness sessions, plus workshops for parents and carers. Do look at our Progress and impact report and visit our other websites talkaboutalcohol.com and life-stuff.org for young people.
Please choose our charity and help raise funds to ensure we can continue our essential work – from a cake stall to running a marathon – you can donate by visiting our Get involved and fundraising page.
Since its establishment as a charity in 2010, The TALK ABOUT Trust has developed, piloted trialed and rolled out a highly evaluated alcohol education programme, Talk About Alcohol, across England and Scotland, now strengthened with Talk About resources and lessons plans on vaping and cannabis and general resilience to health harms. We have targeted programmes for children with additional learning needs as well as for more vulnerable young adults at higher risk of alcohol and drug related dependency and harms. Our programmes are made available to every secondary school and youth setting free of charge, meaning children in over 12,000 schools and organisations have been supported cumulatively and continue to be supported ongoing by our regionally based specialist staff day to day
Each year, the TALK ABOUT Trust regionally based specialist staff train health educators, school nurses, tutors and professionals and provide resources in an average of 1,200 settings, ensuring non specialists have the knowledge, skills and training needed to educate and support children and young adults around alcohol, vaping ,cannabis and other substances day to day.
The TALK ABOUT Trust supports parents and carers via its newsletters, face to face supportive talks and online advice. We help parents understand their importance as role models, knowing where their children are and in setting firm boundaries, are aware of the laws and are equipped with the facts and knowledge to support their children around vaping, alcohol, cannabis and other substances.
The TALK ABOUT Trust has invested in engaging interactive games, quizzes and activities and websites for young people that are not only fun and enjoyable, but are now proven to significantly raise the age that the children who use them choose to take up drinking.
