My name is Will. British society can be heavily focused on alcohol and I found there to be a lack of education around the drug and its impacts, which are very normalised. I’m passionate about working with the Talk About Trust to help change the culture and attitudes by raising awareness amongst young people, removing the stigma around seeking help and enabling them to make more informed, responsible decisions about drinking towards a healthier and happier lifestyle.
Teighler has experience working with young people to empower them when it comes to making choices about substance use and alcohol. She has a BSc in Psychology and graduated with an MSc in Addiction Studies. She is currently employed as an assistant psychologist supporting service users with their recovery.
Naomi has almost a decade of experience under her belt working in education, from early years all the way through to college and has worked at educational settings across London as a Teacher as well as a Learning Support Assistant for students with additional needs. She has also worked with education-adjacent agencies across the UK and abroad, facilitating workshops tackling a multitude of issues that young people face today.
In more recent years Naomi has expanded her reach, taking on the role of Welfare Officer in various nightclubs and events, focusing predominantly on Queer nightlife
A recently retired Deputy Head teacher from a large Primary Federation in Weymouth. Her responsibilities included staff recruitment and training, curriculum design and implementation and safeguarding. As the Designated Safeguarding lead Jackie has witnessed the devastating impact on children and their families where there is misuse of alcohol and other substances, and worked with a range of professionals from Health, Social Care and other agencies to provide considered and effective early intervention. In previous roles in 2 other Dorset schools Jackie has gained additional expertise in PSHE and Early Years education. As such she has observed the effects of adult role models and peer pressure on even the youngest children in school and understands the need for high quality education in all aspects of PSHE from the start. Since retiring in 2021 Jackie has sought to maintain links with education and become involved in her local community. To this end she has become a volunteer at a local Dorchester school and at the Pips holiday club for local children. She has recently become a school governor with link responsibilities for safeguarding.
Trained at Imperial College London including a BSc in Physiology, qualifying in 2007. Lara moved on to hospital rotations at Frimley Park, Surrey and Brighton, Sussex. She lectured in Anatomy at Brighton Medical School before moving to Cape Town where she specialised in Paediatrics and gained the Diploma in Child Health in 2011. Lara decided to pursue her career in General Practice from this point and enrolled in the Wessex GP training programme which brought her to Dorchester, Dorset in 2012. She completed her GP specialist training in 2015 and has been working as a GP in Dorset since this time, becoming a GP Partner at The Prince of Wales Surgery, Poundbury in 2019.
Has strong experience of delivering PSE, previously as Head of PSE and Citizenship at the Sir John Colfox School and Head of Citizenship and Head of Sixth Form at the Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy. Alison has worked with an abundance of outside agencies such as AA, SSCT, Safer partnerships, healthcare professionals, Ansbury and other local stakeholders. Currently Assistant Principal at Atlantic Academy Portland overseeing Teaching and Learning and teaching Music, Alison lives on the Island and has 3 children.
Rachael Andrews is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Bath, UK. She is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and holds a BSc. in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, as well as an MRes and PhD from the University of Bath. Now in her third year as a postdoc, her research is focused on the chemical analysis of seized drug materials in support of UK law enforcement.
Her work contributes to the rapid and accurate identification of emerging substances, with a particular interest in the development and validation of detection methods for synthetic cannabinoids and other novel psychoactive substances. With a background in analytical chemistry, she brings a practical, applied perspective to multidisciplinary research in forensic and drug chemistry and a wealth of knowledge and expertise to The Talk About Trust.
Joshua is a qualified teacher and experienced middle manager with a focus on Pastoral and Personal Development at Post-16 (Sixth Form). He holds a BA(Hons) in Fine Art Painting, a MLitt in Curatorial Practice (Art History and Philosophy), a PGCE, Level 6 Careers Advisor and Level 6 Careers Leader.
Joshua is a student-centred practitioner, with an academic interest in developing pedagogical language for PSHE/RSE at Post-16. He has developed whole-college curriculum including leading colleges and departments through external inspections. He is passionate about championing students and developing their whole-selves, not just academic achievements.
